It was 4:30 a.m on December 16th, 2021
My daughter was going to be born any day now...
and I woke up early so I could try to make sense of this massive problem I was having...
You see, months earlier I had started hiring sales reps to get myself OUT of my business so I could have more time with my soon-to-be daughter
I didn't want to be that Dad that worked 70-hour weeks
But 4 months went by and I had burned through 40 reps...
Now it was almost Christmas time and I had 4 setters who booked a total of 2 calls in 4 weeks...
I was looking at Airtable records, slack channel messages, and just trying to make sense of it all...
"Why is my team not performing?"
"How will I grow this company if my own team can't do their job?"
"Everyone looked great 2 weeks ago, but now all of sudden we have nothing to show for it..."
In order for me to fix anything, I had to at least see it, clearly.
So I fired up Zapier, Airtable graphs, and slack and started making a system to get more visibility on my team.
and in that short 2 hours of building from 4:30 am - 6:30 am...
I never felt more "right"
It's like I was meant to do this
Like everything, I did up until this point was to train for THIS.
God had placed it on my heart, and looking back, I can sum up what happened in 1 sentence
"Joe, it's time, you will build, NOVAH. Now Go!"
All of a sudden my direction changed
I lined up 25 calls with other business owners after my paternity leave
I let go of my team so I could focus
After some successful interviews and a quick Figma mockup, I realized I had something here.
So I made a webinar to launch our beta, and I asked my good friend Steve to be my CTO if we pre-sold a few spots.
Steve was skeptical
But I had no doubt in my mind that we would get sales
I was ALL in
Welp...
We sold out on our beta.
Steve had no choice
and the rest is history
